What is Hospice
Hospice is a philosophy of care that supports patients and their families during the final stages of a life-limiting illness. The InHouse commitment emphasizes comfort, quality care and compassion one patient and family at a time, in familiar surroundings.
Hospice eligibility is based on:
- Patient is diagnosed by a physician with a life-limiting illness
- Patient has a life expectancy of six months or less
- Patient is no longer seeking curative treatment
When to Refer
We recommend referrals to InHouse Hospice be made as early in the terminal phase as possible. This allows the hospice team to support the patient, family and caregivers in the final phase of life with compassion, quality care, love and dignity. It also allows the team to address symptom management, financial and personal arrangements as well as grief.
